Constitution of the IGDA Casual Games Special Interest Group
Vision Statement
The purpose of the SIG is as follows:
- To build a community of casual game developers.
- To promote the art and craft of casual games to the industry as a whole.
- To educate developers about the craft of casual games.
- To identify, and strive to address, those issues of importance to casual game developers.
Constitution
The purpose of the constitution is to provide a framework for day-to-day operations.
- Organisation The SIG will be organized by a Steering Committee. Decisions will be made by the Steering Committee using the principles of sociocratic consent (that is, no reasonable objections will be ignored).
- Steering Committee Members The steering committee will be selected annually by the current steering committee members.
- Chair The steering committee will elect a chair. The chair will be responsible for ensuring the continued functioning and success of the SIG.
- Committee Meetings Steering Committee members are expected to attend the regular committee meetings or to provide apologies for absence. Two consecutive absences from a committee meeting without apologies for absence shall be considered a resignation from the committee.
We will practice Open Government - Anyone is free to attend Steering Committee Meetings, and the meeting notes of each meeting will be made available. Contact a member of the Steering Committee if you wish to attend a Committee Meeting.
- Petitioning the Committee. Members of the SIG are invited to petition any member of the Committee to bring up an issue for discussion at the Committee Meeting. (They are also welcome to attend the Committee Meeting themselves in order to discuss any issue).
- Caveat Lector. This constitution will self destruct if it gets in the way of getting things done.
