Chapter Legalization/Formalization

IGDA chapters are currently not recognized as formal legal entities (i.e., a stand alone corporation with its own bylaws, board, bank accounts, etc). Rather, chapters are grassroots oriented, loosely formed groups of volunteers.

The IGDA is looking into options to provide interested chapters with individual licenses that would allow them to sign contracts, open bank accounts, lobby within local governments, etc. A task force has been formed to explore legalization options for chapters.
