Subject: Call for Volunteers
The Game Writers' Special Interest Group is a young organization with big goals and a lot to do. The only people who are going to get these things done are here on this mailing list. We need you to take a look at what we're up to, and see what you can volunteer for. You don't have to change the world all by yourself, but working together we really can make a difference.
I've combined our list of inniatives from 2004 with the items discussed at the 2005 meeting. As far as I can tell (and please speak up if you think I've made a mistake) we have two over-arching goals:
- Improve industry exposure and conditions - get the word out to game companies about what game writers do, what their value is and how to best use them.
- Provide resources to writers - help out writers working in the industry, or those interested in it, so that they can do their best work.
Since these are lofty goals, we need to break them down into steps and prioritize. We need people to take ownership of these comparitively smaller goals and move them ahead. We did some great things in 2004 and it looks like the trend is continuing this year.
Here's your chance to review what our current inniatives are and add your name to the list of volunteers on a project. I'm sorry if I've missed anyone who has already volunteered. Some of our records were recently lost. The wiki is where much of the progress is tracked and stored. Just jump right in and add your name to a project page you're interested in. The new wiki is at: http://www.igda.org/wiki/
