If you wish to contribute to a white paper, you'll need to first contact the lead editor of that paper. See the relevant paper page for details.

When you are involved, here is a list of items to be aware of when helping write a IGDA Game Preservation SIG white paper:

  • Please sign up to the IGDA Game Preservation SIG mailing list, sometimes white paper discussions occur there.
  • You should have at least a free IGDA account, and enable the wiki account in the control panel if you wish to edit any of the white paper wiki pages.
  • Please read the relevant white paper page, which includes important information on who is doing what, deadlines and writing guidelines. If information is missing, incomplete or you think needs changing, email the group to suggest it.
  • There will be a private mailing list for white paper discussion, resource discussion and so forth. You will have to be added to this to get up to date information.

Currently the plans are to keep sections of papers written separately to some guidelines, and an editor to finalise and edit the sections into a paper at the deadline date. A small amount of people will work on each section of a paper.

Drafts can be sent around or stored on the wiki for review or checking by other members of the group.

Since there is little physical interaction, most communication is by email, with the possibility of text-based and white board online meetings.
