- The North of the UK has a poor relationship with TIGA as a result of its percieved bias towards London or south of Birmingham. As a result, my ties with TIGA are very loose. Personally, I lost interest when I felt they structured the organisation with a bias towards larger developers - the fees for a small company were disproportionate, especially for non-developers wanting affiliate status. I have had some dealings with NESTA - but I don't know what good they would be for anything. They are a commercial organisation - their goal is to invest in new ideas and get a share in the profits. In my experience, they have no interest in anything else.

- I know one of the TIGA board members James. Drop me a mail off list and let me know what you need and I'll see if he can help. - Rhianna
I've done a chat on the HWA site on game writing, and the log of that is available for download, if folks want to grab it. I'm also in the middle of cooking up a white paper on writing for video games for the HWA, and once I get that into shape I would greatly appreciate any eyes-on that people would be willing to lend. -- Richard
- From the news release: LOS ANGELES -- A New Media Writers Caucus has been formed by the Writers Guild of America, west to address the professional needs of writers working in this area of entertainment. "There are now three major categories of screen-based entertainment: TV, movies, and games," said WGAw secretary-treasurer Patric Verrone. "We feel that new media writers and writer-designers deserve the same support and recognition that the guild offers other professional screenwriters." I just wrote (2-3-5) to John Koch (who I know) re: the New Media Writer's Caucus. I know that the IGDA is listed under affiliations off of the home page, but I asked john about the idea of some specific kind of association between the New Media Writer's Caucus (of which I am a member) and the Writing SIG. Seems to me there should be a close association. Maybe a joint meeting? As a matter of fact, I'd suggest that anyone in the Writing SIG who has stateside interactive writing credits consider joining the New Media Writer's Caucus, if you're not already a member. - Randy
- At the 2005 GWSIG meeting - Two representatives from the WGA spoke about the initiatives that organization is taking as regards game writing, including setting up a directory of game writers. The SIG will be in contact with the WGA on this and other issues.
- For information on the WGA's New Media Caucus go to www.wganewmedia.org. Applications can be downloaded and sent to the WGA as indicated.
