Who do we accept memorials for?

Currently there are no formal specifications for who is to be included in this project. All entries will be checked on a case-by-case basis, however, these are the most likely to be accepted:

  • People who have worked in the videogame industry, or in an organisation directly related to the videogame industry
  • Highly influential videogame players

Most anyone mentioned on Mobygames or other Videogame DB sites will certainly be included. Additional guidelines are outlined on our Guidelines page.

Memorials require these items:

  • Person's name (If they have a long and short name, provide both)
  • Picture of the person (or a link to one)
  • Date of Birth
  • Date of Death
  • Introductory paragraph
  • Complete Biography/Obituary
  • List of Works/Gameography
  • Links (Obituaries, articles of interest, websites, other memorials)
  • Any comments made by people about this person.

All writing must be your own. Pictures should be licensed, owned by you, or otherwise have no other available photographs other then the one you suggest. Multiple pictures can be submitted and will be included in the main Biography or at the bottom as appropriate.

Memorial text can be non-English, although English is preferred, and a translation would be a good addition.

Writing Style

The introductory paragraph needs to be short and contain basic information on who the person was, when they died, and how they died. It might also possibly contain their age and location at time of death.

The Biography requires several paragraphs on the subjects life. See the How to write an Obituary page for more details. There is no suggested word count or limits, although it might be edited as required.
