White Paper Contributor Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the 2007 Persistent Worlds Whitepaper. Please follow these directions carefully before making your first wiki post.

1. Register First:

2. Contact the Project Coordinator, James Hursthouse (james at onlinegameservices dot com) to volunteer.

2. Review General Guidelines for Contributing to the White Paper and to wikis

Follow these general guidelines for writing for the White Paper and contributing to a wiki:

3. Fix Random Mispellings and Grammatical Errors:

  • If you find a mispelled word or grammatical error or something that doesn't read clearly on this wiki, feel free to go in and fix it. (Don't forget to mark your changes in the Summary.)

4. For major editing or writing

If you choose to write or revise sections for the wiki:

  • Find a section you feel comfortable writing about and CONTACT THE SECTION COORDINATOR / EDITOR BEFORE CONTRIBUTING. SEE http://www.igda.org/wiki/index.php/Online_Games_SIG/2007WPSB/index/contributors for an up to date list of Section Coordinators / Editors.
  • Make sure you refer to the "History" and "Talk" tabs (found at the top of the wiki page) and see what the previous edits were like and if there are any plans for future editing outlined by the [[____]] for that section.
  • For the Section you're interested in writing for -- make sure you refer to the list of [[____]]. If you have any big plans for this section, it's strongly advised that you contact this Editor to let them know about your idea.
  • Sometimes the Section Editors will have blocked out certain sections that need attention -- look for places which might say "needs content here" or look like they need to be fleshed-out.
  • Do NOT use the wiki as a promotional tool for your business. This is not the purpose of the White Paper.
  • Don't forget to summarize any changes you made.
