Writing cinematics scripts that can survive the design process

This talk would focus on writing the scripts for the cinematic movies in games so future design changes will have minimal impact on art creation. I've spoken with a several people on all three sides of this one (art creation, script writer, and designer) and there are usually quite a few problems with this part of game creation that are not easily fixed. It might be interesting to go over several different techniques or philosophies on how to create these movies so they can withstand the normal changes that happen to a design from the journey to pre-production to shipped product.
